Diving

Josh started diving in 2012 at the age of nine, after participating in a try dive while on a family holiday to Menorca, and started the PADI Seal Team program shortly after. Less than a year later once Josh had turned ten, he started the OpenWater course at a PADI dive centre called Diving Oasis and competed the four open water dives with Dive Deep Blue in Malta.

Progressing to PADI Divemaster with an internship at Aquanauts in Plymouth, Devon in 2024 Josh has had an involvement with approximately a hundred PADI courses. Towards the end of the year he furthered his professional qualifications by completing the DSD leader and Snorkel guide courses with Parrottfish. Over the last thirteen years, Josh has logged over 1,000 dives in the UK and Mediterranean.

In April of 2025 Josh travelled to Benalmádena, Spain, to attend a PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) with Course Director Lewis Hartley, ProBlueIDC/Into the Blue Diving. Josh passed his Instructor Exam (IE) first time in Palamós, Spain earning him the rank of Specialty Instructor. Josh will spend the next few months working towards Master Scuba Diver Trainer, and onto IDC Staff Instructor after.

Boat Yards

Having grown up with family members working in different roles throughout the maritime industry Josh has gained a lot of experience within maritime, ranging from being the bosun on tall ships to building yachts from, with everything in between.

Once he left college in 2019 it was clear that he belonged at a local boatyard called The Woodbridge Boatyard Ltd in Woodbridge, Suffolk. Where he developed the skills he already had and branched into new aspects such as shipwrighting. Using these skills Josh has worked on hundreds of boats ranging from small tenders to the Cutty Sark.

Since leaving Suffolk and joining the Navy Josh hasn’t spent much time in a boatyard environment but can sometimes be found tinkering around on an old boat, when the conditions aren’t quite good enough for diving.

The Royal Navy

Growing up, Josh always knew that he wanted to join the Royal Navy (RN) so once he left secondary school he applied for the RN as a Warfare specialist, later streamed to Electronic Warfare. on completion of all his training he was sent to work at the COVID-19 test centres in Portsmouth. After a tour of a Submarine Josh decided to request a transfer to the Submarine Service, where he still serves onboard an active RN Submarine.
